South Calcutta Public School is governed by The Biswas Educational Foundation, which is a non-profitable, non-political, non-religious Public Charitable Trust which was founded in the year 2008, in order to impart free education & livelihood to the orphan and single-parent-children belonging to the underprivileged section of the society.

The said Trust is carrying on various social welfare activities for the last 11 years. The Trust has its own buildings, own land, and carry all the welfares at its own expenses, without any contribution from the government. It is also worth to mention here, that in future also the trust will endure all its social responsibilities in the same way. The trust has been controlled by four renowned Trustees – Mrs. Nilima Biswas, Mrs. Gita Dev Biswas, Mr. Debasis Biswas and Mr. Tarun Bagchi, who devoted themselves for the wellbeing of the society.

The Trust was founded under the noble plans and inspiration of our Visionary Dr. Nalinaksha Biswas, who is having his Doctoral Degree (PhD.) in Environmental Control, Heat & Mass transfer from Nottingham University- England, was a Senior Lecturer in Building Science at Leeds Metropolitan University for many years, before taking early retirement. He always had a strong desire to help the needy children, in particular the orphans and he outlined his plans to establish a school to educate children as well as raise at least 450 needy destitute children.

The Trust owns a facility names as “Ananda Bhavan” where around 38 destitute children gets are imparted with free education, free food, free clothing & shelter and are provided with proper health care facilities. There is also an arrangement for recreation to see the little ones grow in an ambience of freeness and dexterity. These children will stay in our facility till they complete their Class-XII and after that they will be guided with higher studies.

To sustain this project Dr. Biswas considered to build up a school where the children of average families from the surrounding locality can receive quality education at an affordable cost and the children staying in our facility can also study.

South Calcutta Public School is the first Green school in the serenity of Prasadpur, Sonarpur. Inaugurated on 15^th August 2015, the school has started its journey since January 2016, as co-educational English Medium School which aspires to guarantee a 360-degree development of every child.

The School has been setup in 4.02 Acres campus where a four storied building of approx. 70,000 Square Feet area is under construction. The infrastructure is gradually taking shape under supervision of one renounced Architect - D.C. Paul & Sons, with a state of art, classy design, highly secured, and with all the modern facilities of a school can envisage. This school building is getting constructed in the concept of Green Building where thermal insulation has been used to maintain a constant comfortable temperature inside the building beyond the rise and fall of atmospheric temperature. At present the school is having classes from Nursery to Class – IX.
